Sounds of the 70s

I'm getting ready to tackle a project and thought I'd cast out a wider net to get input. So here's a question for the poetry folk: who do you think are the essential poets of the 1970s?

I've got my personal list, influenced by what I like and have been able to find and read readily--but I know it's only a smattering of what's out there. So I'm just floating this.

Great question and I look forward to learning your list!

I'd vote Gregory Orr, Robert Bly, Mark Strand

Thanks for playing, kids!

Bren: Bly & Strand are on my list, but I hadn't thought of Orr.

Amy: Wakoski is likewise on my list but I hadn't thought of the others...for some reason I think of Sexton as a 60s poet...but her influence obviously stretches...

no, you're right . . . sexton is 60s, more . . . the death notebooks was published in the 70s, my fave, so i think i just lump her into that decade. lol.
