Submission
I'm tossing this out to the greater blogosphere.
For those of you who go through the slush pile rigamarole as a route to publication, how do you pick and chose lit mags? It's tough to keep up with what's out there. I try to surf websites and snoop around before sending out packets--but I'm wondering if there's a better, centralized source?

I've discovered tons of new places to send work by snooping other po-blog's "where I've been published" link lists. I've also been using Duotrope.com to find new outlets.
Most excellent Do's/Don'ts, btw.

Nothing like a little Master and Servant early in the morning... I check the acknowledgment pages of books I like. I also check po blogs and check out the magazines themselves both on and off line.
I get ideas from other poets I know and mostly by keeping up with the po blogs.
FN: Thanks. I'm going to start checking Duotrope. Thanks...I realized compiling the list last night how many I broke...and how much harder my creative life's been at times because of it.
CDY: Indeed! I've been in an 80s alterna mood lately. I used to try and pick up new hard copies of mags I wasn't familiar with...that's proved a little difficult. I think I'm going to resort to perusal copies and back issues in addition to snooping online.
Collin: This seems solid. I've gotten lucky actually with both of those...but I hate bothering my friends.
